AMP Capital appoints new head of distribution

Steve Mazzarelli is the new head of distribution, retail and advisory at AMP Capital, an internal promotion. Mazzarelli has been with AMP for over 14 years, joining in 2006. In his latest role, Mazzarelli will lead and manage the AMP Capital retail distribution team in Australia.

ASX welcomes new, farewells outgoing chair

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has replaced chair Rick Holliday-Smith, who is retiring, with current non-executive director Damian Roche. Holliday-Smith has been chair since 2012.

BlackRock appoints chair and head of APAC

Rachel Lord, the current head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa for BlackRock, is the new chair and head of Asia Pacific. Lord takes over from Geraldine Buckingham in May 2021, who will move into a senior advisory role.

Cbus welcomes three new investment heads

  • John Longo is the new head of property, moving from AustralianSuper as senior investment director

  • James Crawford is the new head of equity portfolio construction, moving from First Sentier.

  • Serge Allaire is the new head of private equity, moving from MLC Asset Management

Schroders welcomes new CEO

Sam Hallinan is the new chief executive for Australia at Schroders, joining from Nikko Asset Management in the role of managing director for its Australian business.

Rest promotes head of operations to GM

David Madden, head of operations at Rest superannuation, has been promoted to the general manager of administration solutions and governance. Madden replaces outgoing Kieran Varcoe, who left the fund to head to BT.

WEF welcomes new board member

Julie Sweet has joined the World Economic Forum Board of Trustees. The board is the guardian of the WEF’s mission and values and is the highest governing body. Sweet is the CEO at Accenture and serves as a director as well.

State Super appoints GM of defined benefits, assets, liabilities

Keri Pratt is the new general manager of defined benefits, assets and liabilities at State Super. Pratt’s was an internal promotion, as she joined the fund in 2017.

Mercer appoints head of super

Tim Barber is the new head of Mercer Super, set to head the Mercer Super Trust and other portfolio services businesses. Barber was the CEO at Australian Unity Bank for the past four years.

Departures

UniSuper CEO leaving fund

Kevin O’Sullivan is leaving UniSuper after eight years in the chief executive role to retire. O’Sullivan was named FEAL Fund Executive of the Year 2020.

Aberdeen Standard institutional director resigns

Andrew Heyden has left Aberdeen Standard in the role of institutional director and is still pondering his next step. His responsibilities have been divided between other members of the distribution team.

Macquarie Group executive reshuffle

Martin Stanley, group head of Macquarie Asset Management, has resigned after 16 years in the role. Ben Way will move into the role and join the executive committee. Way is the current head of global alternatives in Macquarie Asset Management and Macquarie Group’s Asia CEO. Stanley will move into a role as the chair on the executive committee.

Mary Reemst is retiring from the role of managing director and CEO of Macquarie Bank after 22 years at the company. Stuart Green is earmarked for the role. Green has been at Macquarie for 20 years.
