Risk Product Update

MLC launches Vivo, a new wellbeing offering, ceases IP and TPD for some high-risk jobs

MLC Life Insurance has launched Vivo health, wellness and recovery service for clients looking to improve their health across their lifetime. All clients of MLC Life Insurance are supported by Vivo, which is an online service at no additional cost. All retail customers have access to Vivo, with fund members gaining access across the second half of 2022. The service offers fitness consultations to second opinions on medical conditions, and it doesn’t matter if someone makes a claim or not.

MLC Life Insurance will also no longer be offering some people in certain high-risk occupations income protection or total and permanent disability cover. A significant number of claims in a small group of occupations was behind the decision, with the future of such claims posing a sustainability problem. Life and trauma cover will still be available or available under individual consideration. The changes are in effect from 8 August 2022.

Occupations affected include:

  • Police Officer, Detective, Other (not motorcycle, airwing, bomb disposal, search & rescue)

  • Police Officer, Dog Squad

  • Railway Police

  • Tram Police

  • Train Police

  • Police Superintendent

  • Armed Services

  • Private Investigator – armed

  • Security Guard both armed and unarmed
