AFA Award nominations open for 2022

After a two-year break, the Association of Financial Advisers has opened nominations for the AFA Awards 2022. There are two awards on offer: AFA Adviser of the Year and AFA Female Excellence in Advice. Winners are announced on 23 September 2022 at the AFA National Conference on the Gold Coast. Nominations opened on 11 July and can be made here:

MLC Life welcomes chief risk officer

Jane McGovern is the new chief risk officer at MLC Life Insurance. McGovern replaces acting chief risk officer Edwina Star, and moves into the role from iCare.

AMP names GM of wealth distribution

Lisa Sorgini is the new general manager of wealth distribution at AMP’s wealth management business, after acting in the role since February.

AFCA appoints new lead ombudsman

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) has appointed Natalie Cameron as lead ombudsman for banking and finance after joining AFCA originally as lead ombudsman of investments and advice. Cameron has been acting in the banking and finance role since January.

Kaplan offers second round of Women in Finance scholarships

After a successful initiative in 2021, Kaplan Professional is offering scholarships as part of a $1.5 million grant awarded to the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) by the government to improve diversity in the finance sector. In 2022 Kaplan will be receiving $50,000 from the FPA for 10 scholarships to cover study fees for any two subjects in the Master of Financial Planning or Master of Applied Finance programs. Scholarship applications are open until 22 July 2022.
