UniSuper chair retires, appoints equities trader

Ian Martin is retiring as chair of UniSuper at year’s end after serving on the board for nearly 10 years, with five years as chair. Martin is to be replaced by Mark Armour, a current independent non-executive director.

Toby Bourke has been appointed as an equities trader at UniSuper in the Australian equities team. Bourke joins from Bell Asset Management as head of trading.

Maple-Brown Abbott appoints investment director

Greg Stark is the new investment director at Maple-Brown Abbott’s listed infrastructure business. Stark moves into the role from Shaw and Partners as institutional equities director.

Frontier promotions

Harry Green is now the principal consultant at Frontier, after joining in 2021. Jenny Li and Brad Purkis are now consultants, with both joining last year as associates.

Fidelity loses Australian MD

Alva Devoy is leaving Fidelity Australia as managing director after six years in the job and eight years with the company. Devoy is returning to Europe after 13 years in Australia. Lawrence Hanson, who has been with Fidelity for 15 years, will replace Devoy, moving into the role from head of South East Asia and MEA, but retaining the Asia Pacific ex Japan institutional business.

PwC welcomes chief economist

Amy Auster is the new chief economist at PwC, replacing Jeremy Thorpe who is leaving after six years. Auster has been a partner with PwC since 2021.

First Sentier creates ESG role

Kristen Le Mesurier is joining First Sentier Investors as head of ESG for the Australian equities growth team. Le Mesurier joins from Platypus Asset Management where she led the ESG approach.

IFM Investors welcomes new director

Ming Long is the newest member of the IFM Investors board. Long currently chairs AMP Capital Funds Management and has a long distinguished career in financial services. Long chairs the Diversity Council Australia and is on the board of QBE Insurance (Auspac) and the Committee for Economic Development (CEDA).

FEAL appoints new CEO

Katrina Bacon is the new chief executive at the Fund Executives Association Limited (FEAL), replacing Joanna Davison who is retiring after nine years. Bacon has been most recently with KPMG as a director in the Superannuation Advisory practice.

Aware Super farewells chair

Neil Cochrane is leaving Aware Super as chair after three consecutive terms, the maximum allowed. Sam Mostyn replaces Cochrane as independent chair as of March 2023. Mostyn is the current president of Chief Executive Women, chair of Ausfilm, The Climate Council ANROWS and the Foundation for Young Australians. She’s on the board of Mirvac, Centre for Policy Development, and the Goodes O’Loughlin Foundation.
