AUSIEX appoints head of product and trading

Brett Grant is the new head of product and trading at the Australian Investment Exchange (AUSIEX). Grant moves into the role from CommSec, where he was executive manager of strategic projects.

Morgan Stanley welcomes head of research

Alexandre Ventelon is the new head of wealth management Australia research, replacing Nathan Lim. Lim is relocating to Hong Kong to move into the co-head of investment management services role for the Asia wealth business. Ventelon was previously an investment strategist with AustralianSuper.

Credit Suisse appoints chief of wealth management

Francesco De Ferrari has been appointed chief executive of wealth management at Credit Suisse Investment Services (Australia) Limited, also joining the executive board. The role includes leading the group’s European, Middle East and African operations on an interm basis. De Ferrari moves into the role from AMP.

MD of super resigns at BT

Melinda Howes is leaving BT in the managing director of superannuation role after two decades at the company. Howes left for personal reasons after being on carers’ leave in the past months.

Challenger appoints new CEO

Nick Hamilton is stepping into the CEO position at Challenger, as well as managing director, taking over from Richard Howes who is retiring. Hamilton has been running Challenger’s fund management business since 2019. A new head of funds management is being sought.

FSC appoints acting CEO, board member

The Financial Services Council (FSC) has appointed Blake Briggs as acting CEO, with Sally Loane leaving after seven years. Blake has been deputy CEO.

Scott Hartley, CEO of AMP Australian Wealth Management, and Michelle Taylor, chief executive of people, corporate affairs and strategy for Challenger Ltd are new directors on the FSC board.

ASIC makes leadership appointments

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has made three new senior appointments:

  1. Zak Hammer - executive director for operations

  2. Peter Dunlop - chief financial officer

  3. Nicole Collins - chief product officer

  4. Mark Adams - regional commissioner for NSW (remains senior executive leader of strategic intelligence and coordinator of ASIC’s Innovation Hub)

  5. John Wallace - regional commissioner for Victoria (remains senior executive leader of specialist services)

  6. Rhian Richards - regional commissioner for Western Australia (remains in the Modernising Business Registers program)
