Global ETF FlowWatch Highlights - April 2022

Worldwide ETFs recorded US$20 billion in net flows during April 2022. Bond ETFs led with US$16 billion in net new money, followed by commodity ETF products gathering $8 billion. Meanwhile, equity ETFs suffered US$4 billion in net redemptions. Global ETF assets fell to US$9.3 trillion as of April 2022.

In the U.S., equity ETFs declined significantly with net outflows of US$21 billion. Bond ETF products gathered US$8 billion in net flows and commodity ETF products took in US$5 billion in net new money.

ETFs in Europe garnered US$15 billion in net flows. Equity ETFs accumulated US$9 billion in net subscriptions, followed by bond ETF products receiving US$4 billion in net flows. Meanwhile, commodity ETF vehicles trailed behind with US$1 billion in net subscriptions. ETFs in Asia accumulated US$8 billion in net new money. Equity ETFs led with US$6 billion in net flows, followed by bond and commodity ETFs accumulating US$1 billion each.

GS MarketBeta US 1000 Equity ETF was the largest new ETF launch in April 2022, attracting US$1.3 billion in net flows.
