Australian Ethical welcomes CEO of superannuation

Ross Piper is the new chief executive of superannuation at Australian Ethical after the merger of Christian Super and Australian Ethical.

Frontier appoints head of equities research

James Gunn has been promoted to head of equities research after Fraser Murray announced his retirement. Murray leaves the job after 10 years.

CareSuper appoints CEO

Michael Dundon is replacing Julie Lander as CEO at CareSuper, as of March 2023. Dundon was CEO at VicSuper prior to its merger with First State Super, as it became Aware Super.

First Sentier welcomes global ESG head, RI specialists

  • Kate Turner has been appointed global head of responsible investing at First Sentier Investors. Turner takes over from Will Oulton, who is retiring.

  • Belinda White is a new responsible investment specialist, working as a senior communications manager at the company for the past three years.

  • Bjorn De Smedt is another RI specialist, joining from Institutional Shareholder Services.

  • Finian Power is head of ESG policy and regulation, previously at First Sentiers Dublin as head of investment management.

  • Rhys Foulkes is another new RI specialist in London, moving into the role from senior credit analyst.

JANA appoints GM of strategy and innovation

Lauren O’Neill is the new general manager of strategy and innovation at JANA Investment Advisers, replacing Georgina Dudley, who is moving to the chief executive role. O’Neill is the current head of client development at JANA. O’Neill’s job will be taken by Sai Srinivasan, acting head of client development manager for the past 11 months.

NGS Super welcomes head of transformation, farewells chair

Nathan Buttigieg is the new head of transformation at NGS Super, leaving Christian Super to take on the role after its merger with Australian Ethical. Buttigieg worked at Christian Super for 14 years.

NGS chair, Dick Shearman, is retiring from the board, with Geoff Newcombe to act in the chair role until a replacement is found. Georgina Smith is interim deputy chair and Terry Burke will replace Shearman on the investment committee.

Rest appoints new chair

James Merlino is the new independent chair at Rest superannuation, replacing Ken Marshman. Marshman has sat on the board since 2017 as an independent director, moving into becoming independent chair in 2014. Merlino is a former Victorian deputy premier, minister for education and minister for mental health.

Perpetual announces post-acquisition appointments

The executive committee of Perpetual after its acquisition of Pendal Group has been proposed, with asset management to be split into regional businesses - Australia, the Americas, and Europe, UK and Asia.

  • Rob Adams, Perpetual CEO and MD, will lead the combined group

  • Amanda Gillespie will remain head of Perpetual’s asset management in Australia

  • David Lane, currently group executive for international asset management, will lead the Americas

  • Alexandra Altinger, current JO Hambro chief executive, will lead the UK, European and Asian asset management business

  • Adam Quaife has been appointed chief distribution officer

  • Paul Chasemore has been appointed chief people officer

  • Sam Mosse is the new chief risk and sustainability officer

  • Mark Smith will continue to lead Perpetual Private

  • Richard McCarthy will continue to lead Perpetual’s Corporate Trust and be on the executive committee

  • Chris Green will remain as chief financial officer while joining the executive committee

  • Amanda Gazal will remain as chief integration officer, and join the executive committee

Link Group appoints CFO

Nicola Scott is the new chief financial officer at Link Group. Scott moves into the role from Pendal Group.

Zurich appoints chief information officer

Deepak Budhiraja is the new chief information officer for Australia and New Zealand at Zurich Financial Services. Budhiraja moves into the role from Sun Life Financial.

AustralianSuper welcomes retirement expert

Jon Sedawie is the new principal of retirement product at AustralianSuper, moving into the role from Cbus Super as head of retirement.

AMP appoints CFO

Peter Fredericson is the new chief financial officer of AMP Limited and has joined the executive committee.
