MetLife research: understanding the adviser-client relationship

In one of the largest studies of its kind in Australia, MetLife’s Understanding the Adviser-Client Relationship Report seeks to understand the attitudes, behaviours and expectations of current and potential advice clients.

Key findings include:

  • Australians are more informed about their life insurance than in past research with more respondents able to state their level of cover and premiums paid, while also explaining the difference between stepped and level premiums

  • Confusion about the value of professional financial advice remains

  • Three in 10 consumers and half of SMEs surveyed said they were considering switching advisers or stopping using an adviser completely due to high premiums, lack of affordability, no need for ongoing insurance, or a lack of communication as their top reasons
