QIC appoints executive director

Ravi Sriskandarajah is QIC’s newest executive director of client solutions, starting in September based in Brisbane. Sriskandarajah replaces Brian Delaney, who is retiring in December after eight years at the company. Sriskandarajah was most recently BMO Global Asset Management’s Asia Pacific managing director, based in Hong Kong, while also recently being CEO at LGM Investments, a BMO company.

Commonwealth Super appoints new CEO

Damian Hill is to lead government superannuation fund, Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC). Hill was most recently the chief executive of Rest super fund, in the role for 12 years. CSC’s chief, Peter Carrigy-Ryan, is retiring. Carrigy-Ryan held the role for nine years.

ATO SMSF commissioner reassigned, replaced

The Australian Tax Office’s assistant commissioner for self-managed superannuation fund segment, Dana Fleming, has been reassigned and replaced. Fleming’s new role is in the Integrated Compliance area, leading the Intelligence and Assessment Centre. Fleming has been in the main SMSF role at the ATO for two years. Steven Keating is to replace Fleming until a permanent replacement can be found.

Mercy Super welcomes new board member

Sandy Grant has been appointed as an independent director at Mercy Super, joining six other directors. Grant has over four decades’ of experience in financial markets, and currently the investment director for fund manager Eight Investment Partners. Grant spent most of his career as managing director of Wilson Group (now Pinnacle Investment Management).

Crescent Wealth appoints chief strategy officer

Vanessa Liell is the new chief strategy officer at Crescent Wealth, bringing over 25 years’ experience in strategic communications. Liell’s most recent role was a chief executive at Herd MSL, a large public relations firm in Australia.

Westpac’s bank loses institutional CEO

Lyn Cobley has retired from Westpac’s institutional bank after five years in the role and a long career in the finance industry. Westpac Group’s treasurer, Curt Zuber, will act in the role while a search for a replacement is found.
