Rice Warner welcomes new CEO, says goodbye to founder
Andrew Boal is succeeding Michael Rice as the chief executive at Rice Warner. Rice steps down after three decades at the helm, having founded Rice Warner in 1987. Rice will remain an executive director and focus on a few key clients and policy initiatives. Boal is coming to Rice Warner from Willis Towers Watson.

GROW Super appoints head of strategy
Adam Gee is the new head of strategy at GROW Super, leading the development strategy locally and internationally. Gee moves from a role as a long-standing executive at KPMG.

State Street appoints new international business CEO
Francisco Aristeguieta has been appointed a new international business chief executive, moving across from Citigroup’s head of Latin America. Aristeguieta will initially be based in Hong Kong, starting his new role in July.

Macquarie IM appoints COO Asia-Pacific
Caroline Marull is Macquarie Investment Management’s new chief operating officer for the Asia-Pacific region. Marull moves across from Suncorp where she was head of investment operations.

UniSuper executive reshuffle with new appointments and departures

  • Anna Leibel is the new chief technology and delivery officer, joining UniSuper in 2017

  • Tim Anderson, executive manager of marketing and product, and Nick Drohan, executive manager of program management, will leave the firm

FASEA appoints two new directors
The Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) is welcoming two new directors, Elissa Freeman and Louise Lakomy. The new directors replace outgoing directors Steve Somogyi and Michael O’Neill. Freeman is a director of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and Lakomy is a financial adviser and director of Crystal Wealth Partners.

AvSuper appoints new directors
Stephen Merlicek is the latest independent director on the AvSuper board. Merlicek was previously the chief investment officer at IOOF and Telstra Super. Stuart Brades is also new to the board, an air traffic controller in Perth and president of the Finance for the Civil Air Operations Officers Association of Australia.

Rest appoints innovation and transformation head
Jeremy Hubbard is the new group executive of innovation and transformation at Rest superannuation. Hubbard moves across from a role at UBank as general manager of digital and innovation. Hubbard is the sixth and final appointment as part of a restructure.

Departures

SMSF Association loses founder and CEO
Andrea Slattery is leaving the Self-managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) Association board, after resigning from her role as MD and chief executive in 2017. Slattery is on the boards of AMP, Clean Energy Finance Company, Argo Global Listed Infrastructure, South Australian Cricket Association and Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority & Commercial Operations.

TelstraSuper chair departing
David Leggo is leaving TelstraSuper where he is chair of the board, after nine years. A chairperson may only serve three consecutive three-year stints.

Tribeca loses portfolio manager
Sean Fenton has departed as co-portfolio manager of the Tribeca Alpha Plus Fund, leaving Jun Bei Liu as the sole portfolio manager. Fenton has been with the boutique for 14 years.

Hostplus hires group insurance head
Shane Fielding has been appointed as head of insurance at Hostplus, moving across from IFS Insurance Solutions after 12 years, with three decades’ experience in the insurance industry behind him.
