US$51 billion in net flows - Global ETF FlowWatch - October 2019

Worldwide ETFs accumulated US$51 billion of net flows during October 2019. Equity and bond ETFs garnered nearly US$24 billion each. Meanwhile, commodity ETF products gained US$4 billion in net new money. Global ETFs surged to a record high of US$5.961 trillion as of October 2019.

In the U.S., bond ETFs led with US$16 billion in net new flows, primarily driven by Bond North America contributing $10 billion of net flows. U.S. equity and commodity ETFs added US$10 billion and US$2 billion, respectively.

In Europe, ETFs amassed US$13 billion of net flows, mainly driven by equity and bond ETF products accumulating US$12 billion in net subscriptions combined. Commodity ETFs in Europe gathered US$1 billion in net new cash. ETFs in Asia took in a moderate US$7 billion in net new money, mainly driven by equity and bond ETFs acquiring US$4 billion and US$3 billion, respectively. On the other hand, commodity ETFs stayed relatively flat with less than US$1 billion in net subscriptions.

China Universal CSI 800 Index ETF Fund was the largest new ETF launch in October 2019, garnering US$930 million in inflows.
