ClearView appoints state manager and heads
Michael Fox has been appointed as the state manager for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory at ClearView. Fox was previously manager of business development at ClearView. Kathryn Williamson has been appointed as head of distribution strategy at ClearView, a newly-created role. Williamson was previously state manager of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Sarv Girn has been appointed as chief innovation and transformation officer at ClearView, a new role. Girn is currently chief information officer at the Reserve Bank of Australia.

MetLife appoints two managers
Charlé Howard has been appointed as retail life strategic account manager at MetLife. Howard was previously strategic relationship manager at MetLife. Casey Sudgen has been appointed as senior sales manager for Tasmania and Victoria, moving across from AIA Australia. 

Aon appoints new directors
Adam Cox has been appointed as director of One Underwriting at Aon. Cox was previously with Swiss Reinsurance Company. Alison Smith has been appointed as regional director for Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia. Smith was previously director of One Underwriting at Aon.

AFCA inaugural chair named
Helen Coonan has been appointed as the inaugural chair of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) by the Federal Government. Coonan was previously a Liberal Party senator.

CEO appointed at Decimal
Damon Watkins has been appointed as chief executive at Decimal. Watkin has previously held roles at Prudential, FIS Software, and AMP.

AILA unveil new awards
The Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) has announced the Ron Shorter Public Speaking Award, a public speaking competition for young insurance industry professionals. This year’s competition will be open to all young professionals under the age of 35 in general insurance, life insurance, and reinsurance law in all states and territories. Successful applicants will attend public training workshops from Polaris Coaching. State winners will receive two nights’ accommodation and registration for the AILA National Conference in Perth and economy airfares to deliver their winning speeches.
