SMSF Trustees Warned on Personal Income Diversions
The Australian Tax Office is warning self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) trustees against diverting personal services income to an SMSF for tax minimisation or avoidance purposes. Those closest to retirement are more likely to engage in this practice. Anyone planning on entering into this sort of arrangement is advised to seek a private ruling or make a voluntary disclosure.
