ASFA research shows super's role in economy

A new report out by the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) shows superannuation is supporting millions of Australians and underpins our economy.

Key findings of the report include:

  • Around $350 billion is invested in unlisted infrastructure assets such as airports, roads, ports, and wind farms

  • Superannuation savings are invested in affordable housing for key workers such as nurses, police and emergency workers

  • Other investments include hospitals, medical research and devices such as needle-free vaccines

The report, The role of the superannuation industry in supporting the Australian economy, says ‘anti-super’ groups want to dismantle superannuation, thereby shrinking the economy.
